Wearing the Wrong Bra Size: How to Find the Right Bra

Apparently, 8 out of 10 women are wearing the wrong bra size. Learn how to select the correct band and cup size for you.

It was like any other day. I was shopping and went to Victoria's Secret for one of their semi-annual sales. I began trying on my bras only to discover from one of the sales associates that I had been wearing the wrong size! I could not believe it, but after doing a little research I realized that I was certainly not alone.

Why is Wearing The Right Bra Size so Important?

Bras offer support. Logically, if you are wearing the wrong size of bra you are compromising that support. Back problems can often result when your breasts do not have the proper support. You will only achieve this level of comfort if both the band size and cup size are correct.

What is Band and Cup Size?

The Band Size can be measured with a measuring tape. Measure around the chest below the bust. If the measurement is an even number that is the size band you are looking for, but if it is an odd number you need to add one inch to it as the band sizes are all even. To measure your cup size, use the tape measure and then subject the difference in inches from your band size. Each inch indicates one cup size. There are charts you can look at to help illustrate this sizing.

Getting Fitted

Although you can measure yourself, as indicated above, take the guessing work out of the equation. If you go to any lingerie shop they can measure you. I know for many women this seems a little embarrassing. You know how tall you are, how much you weigh, why do you need someone to tell you what size bra to wear?

Well, look at the statistics, for whatever reason, most women obviously aren't clear on how to determine that size. The additional benefit for getting fitted is that the associate will also show you how to wear the bra.

How to Wear Your Bra?

Believe it or not, this is a serious question. If you have the correct bra size, you should be wearing the bra on the last hook as the bra will stretch out after time and you will need to go to the next notch. If you are starting with the bra on the tightest setting, there is nowhere to go.

You should also pull the bra band down in the back and the straps should be relatively loose. A common misconception is that the bra straps should pull up the breasts. many women wear them tightly and they dig into the skin. This is not the way to go! The support should come from the band and cup itself.

Sure Signs Your Bra Doesn't Fit

Lift your arms, is your breast covered or is it sticking out? If it is sticking out the size you are wearing isn't correct. Put clothes on;do you look normal with the bra on or is the shape off? Woman often "spill out" is their cup size is too small. I think it is much easier to tell if your bra size is right by just putting on a tee-shirt.

Select the Right Style of Bra For You

* Full Coverage provides the most support and obviously coverage. If you have a larger cup size this style might be right for you.
* Demi plunges down and is ideal for v-neck shirts or lower cut tops. If you are worried about spilling out than this isn't the bra for you.
* Push Up gives you a real lift and has a lot of options with padding as well. This style offers good support and a great sexy look.

A slouchy hobo handbag is the epitome of luxurious comfort and effortless style. Oversized Tote Bag

An oversized tote bag is ideal for women who have a lot to carry! These handbags are a must when toting around a laptop, portfolio or work documents. A clutch is a small purse that is usually used in the evening and contains enough room for a few very essential items including lipstick, gloss, powder, keys, wallet and cell phone. Choose a clutch with plenty of detail and a chain that tucks into the purse so that, if necessary, it can be worn daintily over the shoulder.

* Kate Spade Plaza Sequin Amanda Clutch
* Bebe Leather Suede Studded Clutch
* Ralph Lauren Acadian Embossed Clutch

High Fashion Look with Accessories on a Budget

A high end designer look doesn't have to be expensive. Start with a basic wardrobe, adding expensive touches and layering with accessories.

The average woman can’t afford to shop exclusively with high end designers, but she can have the look by knowing how to accessorize. With the foundation wardrobe as the perfect backdrop, adding a strand of pearls, an Hermes scarf and a fabulous handbag will give her the elegant look she desires.

Statement Pieces

Choose one or two items that will make the statement the whole outfit. These can be a handbag, scarf, belt or piece of jewelry. Worn over a solid black pair of slacks and lightweight knit sweater, a pair of diamond stud earrings and a bright red Hermès scarf worn loosely around the neck will get attention. The look will be sheer elegance, and only the woman will know she didn’t sink a fortune into her outfit.

Accessorizing the Little Black Dress

A simple sheath of a little black dress can be a woman’s wardrobe staple for years. Changing out the accessories will make it seem like a different outfit every time it’s worn. Wearing a cashmere shawl with a wide belt and ballet flats will give it a look of casual elegance. Adding ruby earrings, a glimmering necklace, and sparkling shoes with a Fendi clutch handbag take the same dress to a whole new level.

Other combinations to wear with the little black dress include:

* Hoop earrings and pearls with a classic Coach bag and low-heel Cole Haan shoes
* Chandelier earrings and a Chi by Falchi handbag with Naturalizer pumps
* Pearl stud earrings, a Marc Jacobs handbag and very shiny stilettos

Dressing up a Business Suit

Starting with the basic black, gray, navy or taupe suit, add a pop of designer color for the statement piece. This can be a satiny silk Eileen Fisher camisole or a soft, cotton Diesel top. Add a vintage floral or cameo pin, some hoop earrings and favorite designer pumps for a high fashion, pulled together look.

High Fashion Look in Jeans

The right pair of jeans that flatter the body can provide the perfect canvas for a high fashion look. Top the jeans with a designer peasant blouse or a fitted T-shirt with an Hermes scarf. Simply elegant diamond or pearl stud earrings and a pair of flattering heels give the woman a look of being comfortable in her own skin.

Accessories to Build a Designer Wardrobe

Adding a few accessories to the basic wardrobe will create many options for outfits.

Start with at least three pairs of earrings:

* Large silver or gold hoops
* Diamond studs
* Pearl studs

Add a couple of necklaces:

* One strand of pearls—more, in varying lengths, if the budget allows
* Jewel-tone pendant necklace

As the budget allows, add scarves and belts:

* One or two designer scarves in a bright, attention getting signature color
* One or two pashminas or shawls in a luxurious fabric, such as cashmere or silk
* Two belts—One brown and one black in the most flattering width for the body type

Have at least two or three fabulous handbags:

* One classic everyday bag in leather or durable fabric
* One designer bag for special occasions
* One sparkling clutch for holidays and elegant events

Shoes can make an outfit:

* One pair of ballet flats—Cole Haan, Coach or Manolo Blahnik
* A pair each of black and brown pumps—Manolo Blahnik, Prada or Naturalizer
* One pair of party heels—Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin or Fendi

The most important thing to remember when building a high fashion look on a budget is to buy one item at a time and select something that works with the rest of the wardrobe. One simple designer piece can make a whole ensemble look expensive. If Louboutin shoes don’t work for the budget, find look-alikes. Most people will never know the price of the shoes if the outfit is worn with confidence.

Style Tips: How to Look Good on a Budget Read more at Suite101: Style Tips: How to Look Good on a Budget

Try these simple ways of sprucing up an old outfit. Where to buy and how to add accessories to your outfit to create a new look.

Haven't got money for a new outfit every week or two? No problem. By just owning the basics (a nice pair of jeans, a couple of plain tops and a skirt or two) you can add new accessories to the same old outfit to spice it up.

Fashion Scarves.

Scarves are a great way to make an old outfit look new - and they don't have to cost the earth. You can pick up all sorts of scarves at markets, from hand knitted to silk. Colorful lightweight (such as satin) scarves can be added to summer outfits to revitalize them, and woolen scarves can be added to winter outfits. Because there is such a huge variety of scarves out there (and also many different ways to wear them), you can pair a different scarf with the same shirt to give it a new look.

Funky Jewelry.

While delicate and simple jewelry may not change the look of your outfit completely, bold, colorful and chunky jewelry certainly can. For example, try matching bold colored beads with matching earrings to a plain top. You can also layer different necklaces to get different looks. Items such as cuffs can also add interest and variety to outfits.

Belts and Belt Buckles.

Many people today don't really consider wearing a belt - it's easier just to pull on a pair of jeans. As long tops and skinny jeans are still in fashion, it is also easy to skip the belt simply because you won't see it - if it is under your top, that is. Try pairing a wide belt with your outfit by wearing it over your top. Chain or more jewelry-like belts can lend themselves nicely to more dressy outfits. You can also buy a new belt buckle for an old belt to again give it a different look. For a different look entirely, try threading a thin, colorful scarf through the belt loops of a pair of denim shorts in summer.

Shop Online for Fashion Accessories.

If you don't have time to go rifling through markets and boutiques for fun accessories, try shopping online.

* eBay - yes, it seems obvious, but many people forget about large online sellers when buying fashion items. While it is hard to buy clothes online without trying them on, accessories are easy and plentiful. Be careful if you are buying designer goods, however, as there are also a lot of fakes out there.
* Department stores online - most department stores (including Sears, Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy's and Bloomingdales) offer online shopping.
* Individual online stores - have a favourite store but no time to go there? Many smaller stores, particularly chain stores, also have online stores. Accessories retailers with online stores include Swarovski, Aldo and American Apparel.

TIPS FOR SHOPPING ONLINE

Whether you're shopping online or in person, they both have their pros and cons. When it comes to online shopping there are a few easy tips that will maximize your shopping experience. Online shopping is of course funny and easy as a click on a mouse -- but things can go wrong very easily.

If you are looking for something specific
-- simply Google it. By google-ing the product you are looking for, you'll come across the product on other websites and can compare prices. Also you may opt to use programs such as Window Shopper. * Another tip: google the following-- "[Product name] review" this will help find any personal reviews of the product/clothing.

Check the return policy
. Sometimes when you order online, what you bought might not be all that you thought it was and if you want any chance of returning it -- you would be wise to check out their policies.

Review the size chart.
This is SO important! When you order online you can't try the piece of clothing on, so unless you are 100% sure of your size at that particular store, you really need to make sure you are getting the correct size.

Search online for promo codes. I always do this whenever I go shopping for clothes, food, products etc that are online. For example you can Google "Dominos promo codes" to find coupons to use that will save you money. This always work for some clothing stores, etc. You may find small benefits such as 10%, free shipping -- whatever it is, saving is saving.

Well here are just a few small smart tips that will guide you into a smarter and happier shopping experience online. Enjoy!

Differences Between Perfume And Perfume Oils

The history of perfume oils dates back to ancient Egypt when these fine scented oils were presented to royalty as gifts. In modern times, however, when the word "perfume" is said, most people think of department store fragrances, which consist mainly of the concentrated oil and alcohol solution. Nevertheless, as more and more people are finding out about them, perfume oils are experiencing great popularity. Here are some interesting facts about perfume oils:

1) Strength of smell - Perfume oils are highly concentrated and up to ten times more concentrated than department store perfumes. This quality allows oils to last longer than their eau de perfume counterparts.

2) Alcohol - Perfumes have alcohol in them, which creates different smell effects. Most body oils use carrier oils like jojoba or grapeseed oil in place of alcohol. In some fragrances, the smell can change as the alcohol evaporates different scent notes through time. With oils, the scent is more constant.

3) Price - A noticeable difference between perfumes and perfume oils is price. Perfumes have a very high markup and great profit margins, which is perhaps why many celebrities have embarked on the trend of creating their own perfumes and colognes. Perfume oils can be sold very cheaply, or even more expensively than the perfumes, depending on how they are positioned in the market.

4) Body chemistry - Just because a perfume or cologne smells good on you, doesn't mean that the oil version will. Perfumes only have a small percentage of oil, so they are quite different than pure body oils. This interaction between the fragrance and your body may produce a different scent perception altogether.

5) Packaging - Clearly, department store perfumes are very nicely packaged and thus make great gifts for friends and family. Many perfume oils are sold in less attractive containers, which is part of the reason for their lower price.

6) Uses - Perfumes are only intended for use on the body, but perfume oils can be used to create a variety of scented products, like soap, candles, bath oils, air fresheners, and many other types of scented products. Be aware that there are different types of fragrance oils and that pure uncut oils are not safe for use on the skin.

In summary, whether you choose to use perfume oils or not will depend on the factors above. Try out a small sample first and who knows, you might just discover a delightful new product to add to your personal inventory.
